St.Joseph’s High School (English Medium) Jokalandi, celebrated 75th Republic Day with great patriotic fervour and zest on 26th January, 2024.Balloons of tricolour and several flags adorned the school buildings. The whole campus sparkled with the spirit of patriotism.
The programme commenced with the unfurling of the tricolour by the Chief Guest, the deputy mayor Mrs.ManjulataKanhar, accompanied by Sr. Archana, thePrincipal, Sr.Keerthana,the Vice-Principal of SJHS English Medium and Sr.Latha, the headmistress, of SJHS Odia Medium followed by the National Anthem. There was a large gathering of students, teachers & parents.
There were various competitions held class wise where students showed their participation and skills to their maximum potential.There were dance performances from the students of Std. Nursery and Prep who were dancing to the rhythmic beats of patriotic songs Students of Std. I participated in singing patriotic songs. There were enactments of speeches of great freedom fighters like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, etc., by the students of Std.II, III, V, VI and VII.The students of Std IV showed their creative skills in the Poster making competition which involves the making of national flags and/or depicting various themes related to Republic Day. All posters are then hung outside the classroom on the board for others to see.Std VIII and IX participated in Craft Making Competition, it’s an opportunity to instil a sense of patriotism and unity in the younger generation.
Thus, the Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm It fills our hearts with joy and patriotism. It reminded all that we must work hard to better the condition of millions of people who are living in poverty and misery. The celebration of the Republic Day will be meaningless if most of the people of our country are starving. Let us hope that we shall root out poverty totally in the years to come.
The celebration came to an end by proposing a vote of thanks by a faculty member to the Chief Guest for her presence, to the Principal, Vice Principal, teachers and the students for their active participation in making the Republic Day a wonderful ceremony and celebration.
Sweets were distributed to all the students, parents as decided by the school management.
